Teen Pulls Knife on Dad Following Her OWI Arrest

Officers arrested a 16-year-old girl who threatened her father with a kitchen knife during an argument in their home on March 11, according to West Bloomfield Police Department reports.

The father called police after the girl fled the home in the 4000 block of Auburndale Court at 4:30 p.m., and officers found her roaming the subdivision, Lt. Tim Diamond said.

They arrested her without incident. Officers believed the fight stemmed from the teen's arrest earlier that day for driving under the suspected influence of drugs in the area of Greer and Hiller roads, Diamond said. Charges in that matter are pending blood tests.

Diamond said the girl was lodged at Oakland County's Children's Village, and that investigators with the department's Youth Bureau will forward the case to the Oakland County Prosecutor's office for review of a juvenile petition.

Fight over dog leads to arrest

Investigators with the West Bloomfield Police Department will also seek a petition with the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office against another 16-year-old girl that was arrested in an unrelated domestic assault last week, officials said.

Officers responded to a call from one of the girls, who reported being punched in the face by her twin sister, and pushed by her mother during an altercation on March 6, reports said.

After talking to everyone involved, the officers determined that the complainant and her sister began fighting over who could hold the family dog, and the reportee snatched it out of her hands after choking her, reports said. While trying to get it back, the sister turned and swung her arm, striking the reporting teen in the face. Both mom and dad were home at the time and they broke up the fight, reports said. No injuries were reported.

Officers arrested the complainant and booked her at police headquarters. She was released to her father's custody and ordered to face a judge in juvenile court. Results of that hearing were not immediately available.
