Woman's Phone Missing After Craigslist Callers Leave

West Bloomfield Township Police are investigating the incident, which began with a canoe offered for sale on the popular advertising site.

A West Bloomfield woman who was trying to sell a canoe on craigslist.com had her cell phone taken sometime during a visit from a potential buyer.

According to West Bloomfield Township Police, a group of four people showed up at a home in the 6000 block of Buckland May 29 to inspect the canoe. Lieutenant Tim Diamond said people were walking around the property, and the woman placed her Apple iPhone, valued at $400, on her car while they were talking.

"The people decided they didn't want the canoe, and when they left, the woman discovered her phone was missing," Diamond said. The person with whom the woman initially had contact denied taking the phone, he added.

The case remains under investigation, Diamond said.
