Woman Hears Shot, Finds Bullet Hole in Her Ceiling

The following information was provided by the West Bloomfield Township Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

From Sept. 20-27, officers responded to 53 alarms, 38 crashes, and made 13 arrests. Among the highlights of the reports:

Accidental gunshot in Thornberry Apartments, no one hit

A woman sitting in her apartment living room of her Thornberry Apartment on the 6200 block of Village Park heard a gunshot in the apartment directly above her at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 24, said police Lt. Tim Diamond.

She walked to her apartment office and found a hole in the ceiling consistent with what police would confirm is a bullet hole, Diamond said.

Diamond added that the woman said that she spoke with her neighbor, who told her that the sound likely came from a television that was dropped and a power cord which subsequently exploded.

Police have not found evidence of any explosion. Detectives are  interviewing the neighbor to find out what happened, Diamond said, in a case of what is likely a weapon's violation.

Handgun stolen from unlocked vehicle

A man reported his handgun was stolen from his vehicle's glove compartment sometime overnight Sept. 25-26, according to Diamond.

The unlocked vehicle was parked in the man's driveway in the 5200 block of Forestdale Court. When he went outside in the morning, he found the contents of the glove compartment on the passenger seat and his handgun missing. The pistol, a 9mm FNH, is valued at $600 and legally registered with the reporting person.
