Meet the Candidates for the West Bloomfield Township Board

Five candidates for Trustee seek four spots on the Board of Trustees, while two candidates vie for the Supervisor position.

As we look ahead to November's elections, West Bloomfield Patch is devoted to bring you the information you need about the big races in town.

Incumbent Township Supervisor Michele Economou Ureste will seek a second consecutive term in office after defeating fellow Democrat Jonathan Warshay in the Aug. 7 primary. Independent candidate David Flaisher challenges Economou Ureste after serving two terms as supervisor between 2000-08, when Flaisher ran as a Democrat.

Economou Ureste defeated Flaisher in the 2008 August Democratic primary, 64.5-35.5 percent.

Flaisher recently filled out a survey from Patch, while Economou Ureste filled out the same survey prior to the Aug. 7 primary.

Clerk Catherine Shaughnessy runs unopposed after defeating challenger Neha Patel in August. Treasurer Teri Weingarden also runs unopposed after defeating outgoing Trustee Gene Farber.

Five candidates for Trustee are running for four spots on the board: four Democrats; including incumbents Larry Brown, Steven Kaplan, Howard Rosenberg, and August primary winner Diane Rosenfeld Swimmer. Republican Tom Pustelak is also in the running for Trustee.

I feel that Ealy school had a little of no hope for staying open and the reason for closing was not reasonable to me and the voters of west Bloomfield. At the end of the day West Bloomfield district still loose because the kids will have to be bus to a new area or resident will move out of the area. What a lost to all. Me as parents will have 5 kids going to 5 different schools I'm not happy as a taxs payer were Birmingham school district can accommodate me and kids at 2 schools instead of five you do the math.
