Hartley Harris has a Special Education Degree from Wayne State University

Professional background

35 years of experience as a local business owner, and 10 years of youth programming experience. He is currently the President of Tool Crib, L.L.C. and co-owner of Budget Blinds of Rochester and Budget Blinds of Bloomfield Hills. He is also the President of Ideal Loan association.

Family

Hartley has been married for 34 years and has two daughters that attended Hillel Day School and graduated from . They are now married and live in West Bloomfield.

Activities or key endorsements you'd like to mention?

  • He has generously volunteered his time serving as the President of Maplewoods association 2, 3, and 4.
  • He worked to end the 40 year lawsuit between Oakland County and MDot on the extension of Northwestern Hwy.
  • He led the fight to ensure safer streets and to obtain a traffic light on Maple and Rose Blvd. as well as Maple and Maple Creek Blvd.
  • He worked on the committee for West Bloomfield road improvements.
  • He alerted the city of West Bloomfield of the founding cemetery located on Maple and Farmington Rds.; helping to ensure its preservation.
  • He was also instrumental in helping to relocate a private high school from Toledo, OH to West Bloomfield.

What do you think are the biggest issues facing the township? How would you handle them?

  • One of his major concerns is the lack of unity on the Township Board. He has been an activist in politics for many years and feels he can help bring unity and a positive working environment to the Township.
  • He will work to create a positive and safe environment for all of us to raise our families in.
  • He feels that helping to develop a downtown area for the township will help to create a more cohesive community.
