West Bloomfield May Combine Woodlands, Wetlands Boards

Officials ask department heads to meet with members of the boards to discuss the move.

West Bloomfield officials have asked township attorneys to look into how the wetlands and woodlands review boards could be combined into one entity.

The boards review permits for any work in and around the township's wetlands, flood plains and waterways or any tree removal. According to the township's website, five wetland review and four woodland review meetings have been cancelled in the last year.

Trustee Steve Kaplan said the move would result in some cost savings, "because we wouldn't have meetings with one agenda item."

Officials suggested that development services director Marshall Labadie and environmental manager John Roda talk with board members before moving forward with the consolidation.
