Commerce Town Hall Displays Walled Lake Schools Student Art

The public is invited to attend an opening reception on May 22.

Walled Lake Schools student art will be displayed at Commerce Township Hall May 20-23, 7 a.m.-5 p.m., during the District's K-12 Student Art Exhibition.

A reception for all the artists and the community is planned May 22, 6 p.m.-8 p.m. The exhibit features virtually every visual arts medium including sketches, watercolor, ceramics, jewelry, photography and much more.

“The entire community is invited to see incredible artwork created by our student artists from all 19 of our schools," said Judy Evola, director, community relations. "We are fortunate to have amazing art teachers who provide stellar visual arts programs in each of our schools. We thank Commerce Township for working with us to expand the opportunity for everyone to see our students’ work."

Andrea Novak, Guest Elementary Art teacher, who organized the event, said it is the highlight of the Walled Lake Art Department’s year.

"As teachers, it is so amazing to see all of the hard work that has gone into our year-the work of both the students and the teachers," she said. "It’s what makes our department and our district so special. This is a huge show to coordinate, but it is such a celebration and the looks on the students and families faces makes every minute worth it.”
