West Bloomfield School District Open House

Relocating families and current residents in the West Bloomfield School District are encouraged to attend an open house on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 from 7 - 9 pm

  • All six elementary schools and both middle schools will welcome guests all at West Bloomfield High School with opportunities to meet principals and teachers, and receive updated program information that evening
  • West Bloomfield High School will hold a Curriculum Fair from  in the WBHS Media Center with visual displays to assist middle and high school families to learn about course offerings, career pathways, learning communities and individualized academic opportunities.

Visitors can learn about innovative opportunities for students such as

  • 23 Advanced Placement (AP) courses plus Pre-AP in middle school
  • Advanced Placement International Diploma
  • Award winning Mentorship program for 9th grade students
  • TV/Video program with studio on campus
  • Henry Ford Medical Mentorship, a medical job shadowing program
  • Political Leadership classes designed for internships in the legal and political field
  • Full Engineering Curriculum including CAD
  • AVID program, (Advancement Via Individual Determination), prepares students for more rigorous coursework and for college
  • Oakland Early College - students attend high school and college on the Oakland Community College campus, earning a diploma and an Associate’s Degree simultaneously, all tuition free
  • Multiple levels of band, choir and orchestra

All parents will be exposed to unique visual displays, fine arts, technology and athletics demonstrations, as well as special opportunities for families considering relocating to West Bloomfield. Local realtors will be available offering home buying opportunities within our school district.
