Kindergarten Teacher, Student Bloggers Present at Lansing Conference

Walled Lake teacher Barb Ozminkowski will participate in the Student Technology Showcase.

Barb Ozminkowski, kindergarten teacher at Mary Helen Guest Elementary, has been invited by AT&T and the Michigan Area Computer Users in Learning (MACUL) to participate in the Lansing Student Technology Showcase on Oct. 23.

Ozminkowski and three of her former students, Parker Stasak, Caroline Christenson and Noah Kanner, will talk with State Senators and Representatives about Kindergarten Blogging. Ozminkowski's students have their own blog pages attached to the main classroom blog.

In addition to typing blog “articles”, students use various online publishing tools to create content for their blog to show their learning. Families are encouraged to check out the blog posts and leave comments.

This is the second year that Ozminkowski has been asked to present at the Showcase. MACUL’s purpose is to help legislators recognize the importance of the use of technology in schools and to showcase real teachers and real kids doing amazing things with technology.

Ozminkowski’s class blog can be viewed at http://tiny.cc/kinderblog.
