Oakland Community College Honors State Lawmaker at May 18 Graduation

Rep. Michael McCready, who represents a portion of West Bloomfield, is the community college's 2013 Outstanding Alumnus.

Bloomfield Hills resident and Michigan State Representative Michael McCready has been named Oakland Community College’s Outstanding Alumnus for 2013.

McCready, who represents a portion of West Bloomfield Township in the 40th House District, will be honored during the college’s May 18 commencement ceremony at the Palace of Auburn Hills.

Elected to the Michigan House of Representatives in November 2012, he is a member of the House Appropriations Committee, Chair of the Appropriations Committee on the Michigan State Police and Vice Chair of the Appropriations Subcommittee for the Department of Human Services. He is also a member of the House Transportation and House Capitol committees.

McCready graduated from Birmingham’s Seaholm High School and attended Oakland Community College from 1978 to 1981. He then transferred to Western Michigan University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Communications and Business Administration.

Principal owner of McCready & Associates, a small business located in Birmingham that represents commercial furniture manufacturers in Michigan, McCready has also served on the Bloomfield Hills City Commission, Zoning Board, Planning Commission and Library Board.

He and his wife, Yvonne, are the parents of two daughters.
