Walled Lake Central Band Travels to Grand National Event

The band finished 5th in class AAA and 26th out of all 91 bands in the competition.

The Walled Lake Central High School marching band travelled to Indianapolis Nov. 15 and 16, to participate in the Bands of America Grand National Championships. 

The Marching Vikings performed in the Preliminary Rounds and made it to the Semi-Finalists stage.

With State Champions from all across the country in attendance and the deepest competition field in recent memory, the Vikings finished 5th in class AAA and 26th out of all 91 bands at the competition.

“The kids performed their hearts out and we had our best 2 performances of the year," band director Dave Rogers said. "Our performance at the semi-finals was definitely our best of the year.”

This has been a big month for the band, which on Nov. 2 won the Michigan Competing Band Association State Championship.
