Walled Lake Superintendent Thanks Community for Bond Approval

Voters in the district, which includes West Bloomfield, approved the $67.5 million request by a 57-43 percent margin.

Voters in the Walled Lake Consolidated School District approved a Safety, Security and Technology Bond Nov. 5, by a 57-43 percent margin.

The district requested $67.5 million for safety and security enhancements, and technology improvements, as well as bus replacements.

Voters in six of nine West Bloomfield precincts approved the bond request, most by significant margins.

In a statement released Wednesday, superintendent Kenneth Gutman said the Walled Lake Schools community "wants our students to be safe and secure; they want our educators and students to use technology that facilitates collaborative and meaningful learning; and they understand that there are other time sensitive projects that need to be done. We sincerely appreciate their support and are humbled by this opportunity to improve our facilities for our community and, especially, for our children.”
