Whiz Kid: WBHS Senior Sends Tweets for Patterson

Mac Coddington is part of the Political Leadership program at West Bloomfield High School, in which students engage in two semester-long internships in a variety of civic and legal settings.

Every week, Patch spotlights young people in the West Bloomfield community who are successful, talented and just plain awesome. We're pleased to introduce this week's Whiz Kid:

Mac Coddington

  • Age: 18 (as of Feb. 22!)
  • School:
  • Achievement: In the fall 2010 semester, Coddington served as an intern to help Rick Snyder’s successful gubernatorial campaign. Coddington got to attend the victory party on election night and the inaugural ball in Lansing. In the winter 2010 semester, Coddington interned in Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson's office of communications and media. Coddington was given responsibility for sending tweets concerning the State of the County address.
  • Key to awesomeness: Mac is a go-getter. At both internships, he has exceeded expectations and has been rewarded by being given more challenging assignments that require professionalism, leadership and independence.

Do you know a special young person in the community who deserves a round of applause because he volunteers instead of playing video games after school? Or maybe your daughter's science club is trying to challenge the way we think about the energy crisis? Or maybe your son's lacrosse team won its first game in three years? Everyone deserves a little attention, and we want to tell these stories.
