8th Annual Bernie Smilovitz Harvest Classic

Local and national celebrities and Gleaners Community Food Bank (Gleaners) supporters will join WDIV’s Sports Anchor Bernie Smilovitz on the links for a day of golf and giving for the 8th annual Bernie Smilovitz Harvest Classic. Funds raised at this year’s golf outing will help grow Gleaners’ Weekend BackPack Program, feeding hungry children across southeast Michigan. 

Celebrities from the world of sports and news include: former Detroit Tigers Frank Tanana and Dave Bergman, former Detroit Lion George Jamison, U of M Athletic Director David Brandon and former U of M Football Coach Lloyd Carr, WDIV Local 4 News anchors Devin Scillian and Carmen Harlan, WJBK Fox 2 News anchors Huel Perkins and Rhonda Walker and 97.1 The Ticket’s Mike Stone. 

Bernie’s After Golf Party on Tam O’Shanter’s patio begins at 3:30 p.m. –  golfers and friends can celebrate the day, meet celebrity players and enjoy their beverage of choice and tasty hors d’oeuvres. Tickets to Bernie’s After Golf Party are included in player packages, non-players can join the fun for $100. Reservations to play golf or join the After Golf Party can be made online at www.BernieGolf.org.

This year’s outing is dedicated to feeding hungry children in southeast Michigan by increasing Gleaners’ Weekend BackPack program. Nearly 46 percent of students in Michigan are eligible to receive free or reduced-fee lunches at school, but on weekends often go without. Gleaners’ Weekend BackPacks are filled with enough food for 6 nutritious meals and are distributed to children in need across southeast Michigan.
