If Pistons 'Mob Squad' Young Dancers Look Familiar, This is Why

Premier performance at Pistons home opening game scheduled Oct. 31 for Shayla Salisbury, 12, Andrenee Foster, 12, and Lauryn Herron, 9.

A former choreographer for the NBA Detroit Pistons dance team Automotion, Jenna Williams relishes her current work teaching dance to children at My Dance Studio Inc. in Keego Harbor, which she opened in 2009.

That's why she is especially proud to see three students; Shayla Salisbury, 12, of Waterford, Andrenee Foster, 12, of Pontiac, and Lauryn Herron, 9, of Oxford; chosen to dance this basketball season as part of the Mob Squad youth dance team.

"Over the summer, we spent a lot of time preparing and studying how to train for auditions and just to be young professionals," Williams said after her and the girls received plaques at the Oakland County Commission meeting in Pontiac Wednesday night. "I'm very proud of them."

The three honorees and several others at the studio put in 3-7 days of practicing dance per week, Williams said, paying off at an audition last month from which this year's team was put together.

The Mob Squad, featuring children between 6-16 years, is now in its second season. The new team will dance for the first time at The Palace of Auburn Hills in the Pistons' season-opening game at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 31.
