On the Schedule: Vikings Hoops Visit Abbott

Prior to the "Battle for Orchard Lake Road" game scheduled for Friday, the Orchard Lake Middle School seventh- and eighth-grade basketball teams will take on the Eagles of Abbott at 4 p.m.

The seventh- and eighth-grade basketball teams at and have likely had Monday, Jan. 8 circled on their home calendars all season, said the Abbott Eagles' coach, Kyle Kilpatrick at practice last week. Tonight, Abbott hosts the Vikings beginning at 4 p.m. On Friday, the two teams will battle in a grudge match at  

"A lot of students I teach, those who went to Abbott and OLMS, have been talking about it and getting in some shots," said Kilpatrick, an algebra teacher at the high school. "It’s been interesting to see it and it’s slowly building. Especially after Monday, I’m excited to see it."

In other high school action today, the bowling team competes at Belmar Lanes (4035 Fort St., Lincoln Park) at 4:30 p.m.
