NFWB fast pitch travel director Gabrielle Sack said that the girls have to try out every year in order to be on the travel team, which features girls in the 10-years-and-under, 12U, and 14U divisions. NFWB President Jeff Gabalski added that the league is growing — while in years past there has been one team, he hopes that the league can field three next year.

On Saturday, 21 hopefuls took the field and displayed their skills in fielding, hitting, pitching, running and sliding. After the coaches choose their teams, the girls will practice through the fall and winter in preparation for the competitive season in spring 2012.
