St. Mary's Homecoming Game Unites Class of '91

A cookout, field day, spirit week and the homecoming dance made for a great week to be an Eaglet.

Orchard Lake St. Mary's homecoming events this year brought together the class of 1991, who decided to hold its 20-year reunion at the cookout Friday evening.

The 48-member class was particularly spirited during the game, which saw the Eaglets topple in overtime. A group of graduates, some now living out of state, proudly recalled a memory of beating "Rice" as junior varsity sophomores for the first time in 1989.

"We were playing at the Pontiac Silverdome," said A.J. Camilleri, who now lives in Macomb Township. "Afterwards we went into Pontiac and found a street sign which read, 'Beatrice.' Of course we took it to mean 'Beat Rice' and ran all over town with it."
