Walled Lake Central Honors Inaugural Hall of Fame Class

A Feb. 1 induction ceremony will recognize four individuals and the 1995-1996 girls volleyball team.

Walled Lake Central High School will honor the inaugural class of the school's Athletic Hall of Fame during a ceremony held Feb. 1.

"This year's honorees have met the stringent requirements and exemplify Viking spirit and pride," Superintendent Kenneth Gutman writes in a letter published in the event program. 

The 2014 inductees are:

  • Dave Smith - Head Varsity Football Coach
  • John VanSicklen - College All-American Football Player, Head Varsity Football Coach 
  • Mike Lindstrom - Head Varsity Volleyball Coach
  • Becky Cummings - All State Athlete in Basketball and Volleyball
  • 1995-96 Girls Volleyball Team: Julie Amann, Kristie Bonner, Kristen Bramwell, Haley Breniser, Becky Cummings, Sue Furgenson, Laura Hochthanner, Katie Horton, Jenny Keeler, Amanda Mendenhall, Renee Miller, Nicole Mullins Hewson, Sabrina Nordeen, Jaclyn Pilkiewicz, Jessica Regentin, Rebecca Saldana, Mary Tudor Kistler

A ceremony will take place at 1:45 p.m. in the Walled Lake Central gymnasium, between the girls and boys varsity basketball games with Walled Lake Western. Tickets will be $5 at the door. 

A Hall of Fame dinner will be held at 6:30 p.m. at Bakers of Milford. Tickets are $20 and will be available through the athletic office at Walled Lake Central High School, by writing to Joel Sharpe, joelsharpe@wlcsd.org, or at wlcca.com. Dinner tickets must be purchased by Jan. 17.
