Walled Lake Football Coaches Win State Association Awards

Walled Lake Western and Walled Lake Central earn Academic All-State honors.

Walled Lake Western High School football coach Mike Zdebski, Geisler Middle School assistant coach Dan Ristau, Walled Lake Central High School assistant coach Bob Guttovz have received Coach of the Year awards from the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association (MHSFCA).

Zdebski received the 2013 Steve Spicer Award Leadership Award for his continued community service efforts and was named Regional Coach of the Year for Region 12. Earlier this year, he was named a Detroit Lions 2013 High School Football Coach of the Week. 

Ristau was honored for his work at the middle school/junior high school level, and Guttovz, for his work at the varsity level. 

The MHSFCA also recently announced that Walled Lake Western finished first in the Division 1 2013 Academic All-State competition, with a combined grade point average (GPA) of 3.980. Walled Lake Central also received Academic All-State honors in Division 1, with a combined GPA of 3.830.
