West Bloomfield Draws Lahser in MHSAA Boy's Basketball Playoffs

The Lakers enter the playoffs looking to snap a two-game losing skid, and will face the OAA Blue co-champs Monday.

The West Bloomfield High School boy's varsity basketball team may have received the toughest draw in the MHSAA districts starting Monday at Andover High School.

The Lakers, 8-12 overall, will play the defending district champs from Lahser at 5 p.m. in what will likely be a hostile gym filled with either Lahser faithful, and future Bloomfield Hills Black Hawks. The district plans to merge Lahser and Andover next fall.

The Knights clinched a share of the OAA title by thrashing Farmington Hills Harrison 73-48 on Tuesday, but fell to Seaholm 60-51 Thursday. Down nine points, early in the third quarter, the Maples went on a 14-2 run to take the lead, and didn't let it go in the fourth, miprepzone.com reported. They finished the regular season 15-5 and will face Andover at Andover Monday night at 7 p.m.

West Bloomfield is coming off two consecutive losses where they scored just 44 and 43 points, respectively. The Lakers were nearly beaten by 20 points in their last game Thursday at Southfield (14-4), and finished last in the league with a 1-9 record.
