West Bloomfield Girls Fall to Marian in District Final
The Lakers played hard against the home team but couldn't derail the Mustangs, who added a district crown to an already-impressive season.
The West Bloomfield High School's girl's varsity basketball team was outmatched by the Marian High School Mustangs Friday night, officially closing their 2012-13 season.
Marian advanced to the next round with a 59-39 on their home court Friday night in the MHSAA district playoff finals. The Mustangs jumped out to 18-9 lead after the first quarter, and were up 40-16 at halftime. The Lakers, which beat Seaholm 58-35 Wednesday, outscored Marian 23-19 in the second stanza, but never threatened to end the Mustangs' season.

“I’m proud of my girls, they kept battling in what wasn’t an ideal situation. We’ve got a great group of seniors, and I’m proud of them.”
