West Bloomfield Teen Runs in Foot Locker National Championships

Waterford Mott junior Ryan Robinson says he's pleased with his 21st place finish.

West Bloomfield resident Ryan Robinson finished around the middle of the pack in the Foot Locker National Championships, held Dec. 14 in San Diego, CA.

Robinson placed 21st among 40 runners, with a time of 15:49. He qualified for the race with a 10th place regional finish, held Nov. 30 in Kenosha, WI.

"I'm pleased with it," Robinson said of his performance in the race, adding he felt comfortable on the course.

The Waterford Mott High School junior's accomplishment came even after he suffered a mid-season hip injury, miprepzone.com reported

After the Nov. 30 qualifying race, Robinson told miprepzone.com's Marvin Goodwin: “It’s amazing, it’s one of the most prestigious races for distance running. To be a part of it is something so huge, I’m really excited.”

Tessa Barrett of Waverly, PA, and Grant Fisher of Grand Blanc, MI, captured first place titles at the 35th annual race, held under sunny skies with the temperature topping out at 65 degrees.
