Where Can I Buy Fireworks in West Bloomfield?

Michigan law allows consumers to shoot off fireworks the day before, day of and day after the 4th of July.

West Bloomfield officials have approved permits for five Fourth of July holiday and weekend fireworks displays in the greater West Bloomfield area, but you can also purchase fireworks locally for your personal use.

A data base on the State of Michigan website shows Phantom of Michigan has permits for two locations, 7300 Haggerty Road and 7480 Haggerty Road, in West Bloomfield. The Phantom store is located in a shopping center on the east side of Haggerty, just north of 14 Mile Road.

State law and a township ordinance prohibit the use of consumer fireworks on any day other than the day before, day of, and day after a national holiday.

National holidays are: New Year’s Eve, Martin Luther King Day, Washington’s Birthday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

The ordinance also prohibits the use of consumer fireworks in public, schools, churches, or private property not owned by the user without written permission from the property owner. Consumer fireworks do not include ground and handheld sparkling devices.

Outdoor displays must comply with National Fire Protection Association standards according to NFPA 1123: Code for Fireworks Display, which can be found at nfpa.org. But as a general reference, if you can't buy it in Michigan, you probably can't use it in Michigan.
