Bike Safety Day and More This Weekend

1. Bike Safety Day

  • When: Saturday, May 18 at 9 a.m.
  • Where:Drake Sports Park
  • What: West Bloomfield Parks and Recreation is hosting its 10th Annual Bike Safety Day. This event is for children ages 3 to 12. The morning includes Bike Inspections, Free Bike Helmets (first 350 children, not all sizes may be available), Bike Helmet Sizing, a three station Bike Safety Course, Meet a Police Officer, give-aways and a frozen treat when you complete the Bike Safety Course.  

2. Apple Island Tours

  • When: Saturday, May 18 at 11 a.m.
  • Where: Orchard Lake Museum
  • What: Along with a guided tour of Apple Island, students from Western Michigan University will demonstrate their current archaeological work on the island.

3. Whole Foods "Stuff the Truck" Hunger Drive

  • When: Saturday, May 18 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Where: 7350 Orchard Lake Rd. West Bloomfield Township
  • What: Forgotten Harvest is teaming up with Whole Foods Market for the Stuff the Truck event at three metro Detroit Whole Foods locations. Volunteers will be present to collect food for those in need. All food collected from the event will be distributed to Forgotten Harvest’s network of over 260 agencies in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties.
