Free Concerts and More This Weekend in West Bloomfield

Free concerts featuring holiday music and a harmonica player are on tap this weekend in West Bloomfield.

1. Personal protection classes for women

Learn how to stay calm and protect yourself in the face of danger. This class, open to women ages 14 and older, is taught by U.S. Martial Tactical Instructors. Held Saturday and Sunday at Powerhouse Gym; register online at greaterwbr.com

2. Bowl with Santa

This Saturday afternoon event at Wonderland Lanes in Walled Lake, hosted by West Bloomfield Parks and Recreation, will include two games of bowling, shoes, pizza and pop. Bring a canned good/nonperishable item for Hospitality House in Walled Lake. Register at westbloomfieldparks.org

3. Community Holiday Concert

Men of Grace and Gratitude Steel Band perform a free concert Sunday, 3 p.m., at Sylvan Lake Lutheran Church-Advent Episcopal Church, 2399 W. Figa Ave. in West Bloomfield. Refreshments will be served following the concert.

4. Harmonica George 

Friends of the West Bloomfield Township Public Library will host Harmonica George for two free shows at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Sunday at the Main Library, 4600 Walnut Lake Road. A master on the harmonica, George plays a repertoire of Dixieland, blues, boogie, ethnic, inspirational, classics, and novelty tunes.
