Keith Elementary School is one of 14 elementary schools in the Walled Lake Consolidated School District and one of four of those located in West Bloomfield Township. In the 2009-10 school year, principal Suzanne Cowles led the Dragons, its 641 students enrolled and its staff of 64, to the Michigan Surgeon General’s Award for creating a healthy school and an award as a Michigan Green School. Jump Rope for Heart raised $13,295 (the fifth-highest donation from a school in Michigan) for the American Heart Association, where Cowles also serves on the board of directors.
