I would really like to find out why the horse got scared. There was another instance in another cityRead More when a driver of a vehicle deliberately scared the horse with a truck horn right next to the poor horse. Not once but several times.

Some parents will do just about anything to get on a reality show. Blame the networks for thisRead More charade and that is what it is. This was all planned....

This little boy is very clever to have figured out how to crawl inside the machine. He deservesRead More more attentive parents. I hope they are court ordered to parenting classes. For what it's worth, approximately 30 years ago, I saw a toddler swathed in diapers wander out the front door of his home. The door was wide open. He started walking down the street. I parked my car and gently held him in my arms, looking for a family member to appear. No such luck. The toddler was nonverbal and unafraid. So we walked to the police station across the street. The cops on duty immediately recognized him & thought it was funny. The toddler was a known wanderer and the cops assured me he had a loving family. REALLY? They took him back home and did not write an incident report. It disturbed me then and now that the parents and police were so nonchalant. Child neglect is amusing to some people. I am not one of them.

Natick news - Nebraska news -- well at least they both start with the letter N. I said this before IRead More think everyone should not open any article on their local Patch unless they see the name of their community in it. They are trying to trick up with news. We see a headline and think - in my case - Natick - and it is not. NO NAME - NO CLICK! I think if the click rate goes down for Patch, it will hurt them advertising wise and then maybe they will listen to us that we want LOCAL NEWS! Who wants to join me in my NO NAME No CLICK campaign?

strange how we respond just as the terrorists desire us to. the media commemorates each incident asRead More if it were a new profit center to mine for every last click. whole populations now sit in fear of another 'something' about to happen, never again, fully safe like we were in the good old days of the cold war? once these bstrds hit us deep inside our own turf we have not become stronger, but rather 'hardened', emboldened in our delusions of ultimate superiority, no longer safe on our 'island of north america'. each of these events changes us all even imperceptably, forcing us to accept their motives, their ideals, their imam imposed concept of living. we act in unison, determined to show them we are not affected, yet that very demonstration reveals our inner need to respond, to re-affirm our own injury, each of those crowd-felt sympathies we all cling to, even if for the brief moment of our 'crowd'. be strong, and further, be alert, be conspicuous in manner in which you care for each other. shy not away from those who seek your death, but do not embrace them, as they fein no challenge to seek close to your demise.

It was on Twitter step by step what was happening with photos. There will be more nutbags pullingRead More crap you'll see. I give that police officer credit for stopping him he had his life in his hands. It could have been the real deal. We haven't seen the last of the sicko's yet.

The police in Boston are terribly stupid. They are dumber than most cops and that would make themRead More total morons. And for all you idiots that are going to respond about how much you respect cops because 'not all are bad' or how their job is so hard, really, really? Please think about what you're saying.
In an interview with The Detroit News, the Rev. Jesse Jackson condemned the vicious April 2 mob attack on Steven Utash as "wrong." (Photo: Oli Scarff/Getty Images)

Read between the lines in Jesse Jackson’s statement. Would like to see the full transcript ofRead More ‘those who attacked the Clinton Township tree-trimmer were likely driven by “hatred,” “alienation” and “desperation.”’ Rev. Jackson seems to be making excuses for sinful behavior instead of condemning these egregious acts of mob violence. Perhaps he could have run his statement by others before making it.
Dale Murrish April 16, 2014 at 05:47 pm
The rest of the quotes from the Detroit News article are OK, but you can read between the lines forRead More the victim mentality he seems to be promoting. Kudos to Jesse Jackson for finally breaking the silence. Nothing yet from others like Sharpton, Holder and Obama… Much preferred the clear condemnation of the violence from the black pastors in Detroit and Cliff Woodards after 48 hours, who has a good handle on the situation, in my opinion. Jackson, like others on the left, (Sharpton, Holder, Obama, etc.) makes his living by dividing people, not uniting them, IMO. The Left’s Vote Bank…

Martin Luther King would probably roll over in his grave the way some current “civilRead More rights” leaders act. We still have a ways to go before all people (black, white, brown, red and yellow) are judged by the content of their character, not the color of their skin.

Typical behavior from government pigs. They steal our tax dollars, then turn around and spend themRead More on the police state they use to oppress us.

The best part about all of this is that because there's always "OPPORTUNITY IN CRISIS",Read More this "problem" created more business for this little hydro shop. I love that the women gardeners showed so much support, and online orders increased so much, that he had to hire more people!! YEAH! The DEA helped, but I do feel sorry for those who are punished for using God's gift of nature, and a weed at that!

McGurk, I believe in the Author of the book you call fiction, our Creator, mentioned in the AmericanRead More Declaration of Independence. Last I heard this best-selling book of all time is on the non-fiction shelves of libraries. Unless there’s been an attempt to move it that I don’t know of. Does it bother you that all the American money we spend has “In God we trust” on it? Sorry that your marriage is only secular; I pray that one day it will become sacred: that you will believe in God someday. http://troy.patch.com/blog_posts/by-faith-old-to-new-covenant-saints

Matt, as a Christian I believe that God is the first cause for everything that happens in this good,Read More but fallen world He has made. It’s called providence. This doctrine is not well understood by most Christians in our culture today, so I don’t expect a non-Christian to understand it, much less believe it. Our scientific culture understands the how and the why of secondary causes (weather forecasts) but to attribute the actions to “Mother Nature” (as is sometimes done) is pantheism. http://troy.patch.com/groups/dale-murrishs-blog/p/creation-vs-evolution-debate

The Bible teaches the doctrine of divine providence. As a Christian I believe the Bible is true, andRead More that God is the Author, Who inspired every word of it. As someone who has survived two life-threatening illnesses, I believe there are no maverick molecules in the good but fallen world He created: http://troy.patch.com/groups/dale-murrishs-blog/p/bp--no-maverick-molecules-brain-tumor-and-depression

Reading the various posts here I am struck at the hatred we now have for one another. I believe weRead More are more divided now that at any time in our history with the exception of the Civil War. Obama is a huge success. He has managed to divide our people as no one else has in modern history. A shame that so many have stopped thinking for themselves and instead follow the masses and the political propaganda.
Stu Pidasso April 16, 2014 at 01:49 pm
Mike- there is no hate here. actually a pathetic situation when one feels he is "owed"Read More something rather than earning it by working for it. Why not move down to the inner city and live there for 6 months, then get back to us!! it should be a real eye opener for you!! I work 6-7 days a week to enjoy what I have, even though i have little time to do so, I'm not complaining, but it bothers me that i am penalized by the way of extra taxes, fee's , etc., to help those who have no intention of trying to help themselves.. I have TWO children, NOT 5, 6, or 7 simply because I cannot afford it, and would NOT EXPECT the government to take care of them for me!!!

Very well stated, Treasurer Weingarden. I witnessed several meetings where you were verballyRead More attacked. I have never seen public officials behave so badly, immaturely, unprofessionally, and irresponsibly (except for Rob Ford, Mayor of Toronto). This is a blatant witch hunt, and the board (except for Mrs. Weingarden) should be ashamed and embarrassed by their behavior. They are using Mrs. Weingarden as their scapegoat to cover up their own inabilities and poor judgment. As citizens, our tax dollars should not be spent on this frivolous, unfounded, and irresponsible pursuit. West Bloomfield deserves better. It’s the other members of the board that should step down and let better qualified, and certainly better behaved professionals, take over those positions. Let Treasurer Weingarden do her job for an appropriate and dignified salary, which she deserves. She is certainly qualified. Unlike the rest of the board, that has been irresponsible with our money, Mrs. Weingarden has saved the township money. Stop the madness!
Bob April 15, 2014 at 01:08 pm
Truth be told...Terri is not a good treasurer and was trained at taxpayer expense. She is not goodRead More at it. With that said....the entire board should be booted. Cathy Shaunesy in particular is a cancer within township hall. She could've tried to help Teri, but would rather further her own agenda.....someone w/o a college degree and bankrupty should not be throwing stones.
The ACLU of Michigan has entered the legal fray surrounding gay marriage in Michigan, filing a lawsuit to require the state to recognize about 300 same-sex marriages performed last month during the 24-hour period gay marriage was legal in the state.

Tara, Does your "impressive" knowledge of history include having read John Boswell'sRead More "Same-Sex Unions in Premodern Europe?" In this volume, Boswell (PhD from Harvard, professor at Yale), reveals that the Catholic church, in addition to heterosexual marriage ceremonies in ancient Christian church liturgical documents, had ceremonies called the "Office of Same-Sex Union" (10th and 11th century), and the "Order for Uniting Two Men" (11th and 12th century). If not, read up before shooting your mouth off about things you haven't a clue about. http://books.google.com/books?id=vVgTAAAAQBAJ&printsec=frontcover&source=gbs_ge_summary_r&cad=0#v=onepage&q&f=false

This was out in my neck of the woods. All really great kids, college bound and starting their adultRead More lives. Having lost a child, I can say these families will mourn for as long as they live, and will have to find a "new normal" as EVERYTHING is changed for them now...I wish them strength, there is nothing quite like burying a child. Appreciated are the messages of respect and sympathy. It can be annoying to get news from areas other than your own, however the new Patch is doing things differently, and show no evidence of changing it back.....my best advice would be to ignore stories not in your area, and to write your editor directly, and share your comments with those who can make changes.

Well, I was a parent to three, and all are successful medical professionals. Do you watch the newsRead More or know any teachers in public schools. Ask teachers if kids are fine. Most are total brats. When I look at all those on the welfare dole, seems like Darwinism needs a few more million years to weed out the lazy.

Unfortunately, we created the lazy...LBJ's Great Society has spent $Trillions developing an entireRead More segment of society totally dependent on Government for it's survival. Now, that group has grown in such numbers as to be able to elect a Socialist-based representative government. They in turn, continue to provide more and more Government supplied perks. It will be very difficult to halt this death spiral into oblivion. They have control of our primary, secondary and collegiate educational system...literally indoctrinating our children into the Socialist lifestyle...which looks good on paper. It works really well until you run out of someone else's money. We are at the critical tipping point where the takers are dangerously close to out numbering the makers. We need to wake up now.
