West Bloomfield Man, Living at American House, Turns 100
Sam Raick, born Dec. 12, 1912, said he could live for '100 more years' with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and girlfriend.
Cake, song and socializing were the order of the day for Sam Raick, who celebrated his 100th birthday Wednesday at American House in West Bloomfield. A large group of residents and family filled the front lobby of the senior living center on Maple Road, including his girlfriend, two children and several of his five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. "I could live 100 more years!" smiled Raick, who was born Dec. 12, 1912 in Detroit. A former student of Russell Grammar School, Cass Tech High School and Commerce High School, Raick retired from XLO manufacturing company. The secret to his vitality? Socializing.
