Man Arrested for Indecent Exposure on Trail

The following information was provided by the West Bloomfield Township Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A 48-year-old West Bloomfield resident walking on the West Bloomfield Trail at 7:52 p.m. Monday witnessed an indecent exposure, Police Lt. Tim Diamond said Tuesday. The suspect, a 33-year-old West Bloomfield resident, was sitting on a bench at the trail near Orchard Lake Road and Long Lake Road. His  shorts were down to his knees, exposing his genitals to the woman. She left quickly and informed the WBPD, who contacted the Orchard Lake Police Department. The OLPD found a man matching the description walking along the trail. The suspect, whose name has not been released because he has not been arraigned, was arrested without incident and is being held while WBPD detectives seek a warrant. “It happens a couple of times every year, probably …

Cops Get Arrest Warrant for Bank Robbery Suspect

A jailed Livonia man matches the description of a thief in a Fifth Third Bank heist on July 20.

West Bloomfield Police obtained an arrest warrant Friday for a Livonia man in Wayne County jail who is suspected of robbing the Fifth Third Bank on Haggerty Road on July 20. According to a press release issued by Lt. Tim Diamond, detectives received information that Douglas John Fret, 41, of Livonia matched the description of the robbery suspect and was in the custody of Dearborn police on an unrelated charge of armed robbery. After investigating and conducting interviews, detectives presented the case to the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office and a warrant was authorized. West Bloomfield Police Lt. Mike Turner said in July that no gun was used in the robbery and that no one was hurt. The suspect is said to have passed a note to a teller …

Bank Robber Still Loose; Escapee Captured

The following information was provided by the West Bloomfield Township Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

The man who robbed a bank in West Bloomfield Thursday remains at-large. The Fifth Third Bank branch on Haggerty Road was robbed around noon, prompting the FBI to request the public's help in identifying the suspect. The suspect is described as being in his 40s, with a tall and thin build, wearing a black Adidas hat and blue jeans. He fled in a gray Ford Focus, possibly a 2006 or 2007 model. The license plate was covered with a pink towel. West Bloomfield Police Lt. Mike Turner said that no gun was used in the robbery and that no one was hurt. The suspect is said to have passed a note to a teller that read, "I have a gun and I'm not afraid to use it." Police said that $700 was taken in the robbery. The bank branch was robbed this year.
