Busch’s Fresh Food Market today is announcing the voluntary recall of several handmade Busch’s products, due to the unlikely but possible contamination of a purchased ingredient with pieces of blue plastic. Busch’s uses this purchased ingredient in preparing the following voluntarily recalled products: Recalled products would have been purchased from Nov. 28, 2012 through Dec. 3, 2012. Busch’s Fresh Food Market has received no confirmation of illness or injury associated with the consumption of these products. One in four Michigan children lives in poverty. In this season of being thankful and giving back, here are ways to help make others' holidays warmer.
The holiday season is a time of joy, and if one's lucky, of plenty. Sadly hunger continues to be a problem, with one in four Michigan children living in poverty and nearly half qualifying for free or low-cost school lunches. Some of these youngsters can only look forward to plenty of hunger pangs, but here at Patch we want to help. Patch has launched an online food drive, with all of its 30 Michigan sites participating. The Michigan grocer is partnering with CVS and Rite-Aid to handle customers' prescriptions.
In a move that is sure to upset some of its senior clientele, Busch's Fresh Food Market, an Ann Arbor-based grocery company, is closing all pharmacies in its 15 locations across Southeast Michigan by Oct. 21. The West Bloomfield-area Busch's at 33300 W 14 Mile Rd. will close its pharmacy, along with Busch's in Ann Arbor, Dexter, Pinckney, Plymouth/Northville, Saline, South Lyon and Tecumseh. The company today announced the voluntary recall of the products, in connection with an expanded voluntary recall announced by Spartan Stores, Inc. due to concerns of possible contact with listeria monocytogenes. A press release issued Thursday morning indicated no products have been identified as coming into contact with the organism, and the products in the voluntary recall have been cooked, which generally kills the bacteria. "However, since we cannot guarantee that, we are exercising extreme caution and asking that all products be discarded or returned for a full refund," the release noted.
