Roeper Students From West Bloomfield Named State Chess Champs
More than a dozen young players received medals for their performance during the Michigan Scholastic Team Championship earlier this month.
February was a good month for two West Bloomfield students and all the young chess players at the Roeper School. On Feb. 2, the Roeper chess team won multiple awards at the Michigan Scholastic Team Championship, most notably the K-3 team, which took home first place and was named state champions. In addition, the K-5 team finished second in the state while the K-5 reserve teams received trophies for finishing in fifth and seventh place. Blake and Bryce Bottesi, both of West Bloomfield, were among those acknowledged in a recent press release from the school.
