For many, the holidays are a time of good cheer and family togetherness. However, for kids who have lost a parent, the holidays can be a harsh reminder of the one special person who is missing. Yatooma’s Foundation For The Kids, in partnership with Art Van Furniture, will made a very special holiday visit on Saturday to the West Bloomfield home of the Hannawa family, who are facing their first holiday season after the death of a parent. Samir Hannawa, 49, was gunned down while working in Detroit Nov. 7. The case is yet unsolved, while Hannawa leaves behind a wife and seven children, ages 2-to-18 — five of whom are in the Walled Lake Consolidated School District. Led by "Santa Claus" (also known around Metro Detroit as attorney and …
World peace, good health, an iPad—tell Santa what's on your wish list!
Did you miss talking to Santa when he visited the Greater West Bloomfield area this year? Don't chase him down in a crowded, noisy mall. This year, you can tell Patch's virtual Old Saint Nick what you (or your kids) would like to see under your Christmas tree. Whether it's peace on Earth or a day at the spa, Santa is online (it's 2012, after all) and ready to listen. Post a comment below and tell us what you want for Christmas!
The North American Aerospace Defense Command has a website that now offers a Santa tracker mobile app to follow the jolly man's magical flight.
They sent him their wish lists, sat on his lap, and left cookies and milk for his arrival. The tradition started in 1955 after an advertisement for Sears Roebuck & Co. misprinted a telephone number for a special "Santa hotline." Instead of reaching Kris Kringle, the number put kids through to the Continental Air Defense Command (CONAD) Commander-in-Chief’s operations, according to a description on the NORAD Tracks Santa Facebook page, which has more than …
