Hannawa Family Receives an Unforgettable Christmas Surprise

Each family member of slain local man receives refrigerator-sized boxes filled with winter gear, clothing, toys and other age appropriate items

For many, the holidays are a time of good cheer and family togetherness. However, for kids who have lost a parent, the holidays can be a harsh reminder of the one special person who is missing. Yatooma’s Foundation For The Kids, in partnership with Art Van Furniture, will made a very special holiday visit on Saturday to the West Bloomfield home of the Hannawa family, who are facing their first holiday season after the death of a parent. Samir Hannawa, 49, was gunned down while working in Detroit Nov. 7. The case is yet unsolved, while Hannawa leaves behind a wife and seven children, ages 2-to-18 — five of whom are in the Walled Lake Consolidated School District. Led by "Santa Claus" (also known around Metro Detroit as attorney and …

Where's Santa? Track Him Live from West Bloomfield!

The North American Aerospace Defense Command has a website that now offers a Santa tracker mobile app to follow the jolly man's magical flight.

They sent him their wish lists, sat on his lap, and left cookies and milk for his arrival. Now the only thing left for children to do is track Santa's progress as he delivers gifts around the world on Christmas Eve.k Thanks to the folks behind the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) website, families worldwide can now follow Santa's Christmas journey in real time. The tradition started in 1955 after an advertisement for Sears Roebuck & Co. misprinted a telephone number for a special "Santa hotline." Instead of reaching Kris Kringle, the number put kids through to the Continental Air Defense Command (CONAD) Commander-in-Chief’s operations, according to a description on the NORAD Tracks Santa Facebook page, which has more than …

Ho! Ho! Ho! Merry Christmas, Keego!

Santa Claus paid a special visit to several hundred local children in Keego Harbor.

"Santa Claus is Coming to Town" has been a popular refrain in Keego Harbor this week in anticipation of the big guy's scheduled to town. It was no surprise, then, that visitors to the annual tree lighting event were in the midst of song when Santa Claus arrived to Keego. Several hundred children packed in the Keego DPW building Friday night to tell Santa what they wanted for the holiday, partake in karaoke machine carols and have fun thanks to area volunteers and sponsors.
