Detroit native and Maestro Joseph Silverstein conducted in West Bloomfield without notes, according to users who went for free after winning a contest.
Patch users raved after the Detroit Symphony Orchestra concert at the Jewish Community Center in West Bloomfield Thursday. Detroit native and Maestro Joseph Silverstein conducted without notes and played the violin with expertise, according to users who went for free after winning a contest. Pieces included Coriolan Overture and Symphony No. 2 (Beethoven) and Violin concerto No. 5 (Mozart). "The …

It's a special place for generations of Michigan residents and visitors. Upload your photos and tell your stories and you could win four tickets to the zoo to enjoy it again.
UPDATE: The contest is now closed and we'll be notifying winners Friday, Feb. 17. Thanks for your entries! We've got four tickets to give away to Detroit Zoo! After reading Patch columnist Gerry Boylan's Detroit Zoo edition of Do You Remember? we started feeling all warm and fuzzy. Many of us went to the zoo as kids with our schools, Scout troops or families, and we return with our own children and grandchildren. Over the years, a lot of pictures have been taken in front of the Horace Rackham Fountain, the …
