Patrick O'Rourke of Tyrone Township will be honored during a Law Enforcement Appreciation event on Tuesday night at Comerica Park.
Patrick O'Rourke, the West Bloomfield Township police officer who was killed in the line of duty in September, will be honored during Tuesday night’s Tiger game at Comerica Park. O'Rourke, a 1991 Hartland High School graduate, will be honored during the National Law Enforcement Appreciation event, which will take place before the Tigers play the Minnesota Twins, according to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund page. The game is scheduled to start at 7:05 p.m., but pregame ceremonies begin at 5:30 p.m., according to WHMI and will feature a display of area police cars in front of Comerica Park. $10 from each ticket will be donated to the Memorial Fund to help build the National Law Enforcement Museum, according to the event …

A Miguel Cabrera Triple Crown drawstring backpack and other items geared for young fans were taken from a West Bloomfield porch, police said.
Professional baseball is here, but one young fan from West Bloomfield will have to start the season without their Detroit Tigers Kids Club activity and souvenir kit after the items were stolen from a porch over the weekend. Officers with the West Bloomfield Township Police Department responded to 4000 block of Thorntree Drive Saturday afternoon for a mail tampering report and encountered the homeowner with a mailed package box. The resident said they joined the 2013 Detroit Tigers Kids Club and expected to receive the membership package that included: However, most of the items, including the Cabrera drawstring backpack, were removed, reports said. Torii Hunter, the Detroit Tigers newest player, took to Twitter on Friday to ask for recommendations on places to stay in the southeastern Michigan area.
On Thursday, free agent outfielder Torii Hunter made news by agreeing to a contract with the Detroit Tigers. Hunter's signing stoked the hot stove for baseball fans in Detroit. And on Friday, Hunter piqued fans' interest even more when he took to Twitter (his account is @toriihunter48) to ask for suggestions on a place to live in the southeastern Michigan area.
