The following information was obtained from the Troy Police Department on Tuesday. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction. A man who police believe to be responsible for at least 15-20 home invasions in Metro Detroit, including West Bloomfield, was arrested in Rochester Hills last week, according to Troy Police. D’Mario Darrell Thornton, 32, of Detroit was arrested without incident after Troy Police, deputies from the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, and South Oakland Narcotic Investigation Consortium officers say they saw him break into a Rochester Hills home on the evening of March 26. Later, a search of his car, a 2009 White Cadillac Escalade, and his residence in Sterling Heights led to the recovery …

West Bloomfield Township Police Department reports from Aug. 15-20 included 80 alarms, 35 crashes and 21 arrests. Among the highlights: The good news, said Lt. Tim Diamond, is that the Sea Grille restaurant is under new ownership after being closed to all but private parties for some time. That new ownership reported a commercial-grade dishwasher stolen by unknown suspects believed to have gotten through the back door, Diamond continued. The incident, reported Aug. 18, may have occurred sometime within the month prior. Ownership reported the incident after noticing a back door damaged, Diamond said, which is where the suspects may have come in to take the dishwasher valued at $6,000. Homeowners on the 7000 block of Yarmouth Drive reported …

Recent West Bloomfield Township Police Department reports included the following: Police followed Twitter to the beginnings of a house party in West Bloomfield which later revealed a home invasion, according to Lt. Tim Diamond. In the night hours of April 22, Diamond said, police following Twitter noticed that a house party was being mentioned as planned for the 6100 block of Lydia Court. Diamond added that as the house is in foreclosure, the mention appeared to be modeled after the recent movie release Project X, a comedy-drama about three friends who plan a house party that spins out of control. Police responded to the home and turned away "dozens" of cars filled with teenagers and young adults, according to Diamond, then returned to …

Three Detroit men are charged after allegedly beating the man living in West Bloomfield with the mother of one of the suspect's child.
A violent episode in a home where a 20-month-child lives could have been much uglier, West Bloomfield Police Lt. Tim Diamond said. Lawrence Wynn, 22, Maurice Christon, 21, and Anthony Rogers, 18, are charged with home invasion in the Friday incident. The men, all from Detroit, allegedly broke down the door of the home on the 6600 block of Buckland in West Bloomfield to assault the 44-year-old man who lives there and acts as a stepfather to the child, of whom Wynn is the father, Diamond said. The men had gone to pick up the child’s 19-year-old mother, who was in the process of being kicked out by the 44-year-old man, he said. The stepfather, Diamond explained, was not happy with his relationship, and as he saw the three men in a car on the …

The home on the 6900 block of Merrybrook North had been vacant for three-four months, Diamond said, but the homeowners still had valuables inside with intentions of selling the home sometime soon. The rear garage door, the door leading from the garage to the house and a locked bedroom door were pried open, Diamond said. Thieves stole a 10-karat, gold menorah from the bedroom, as well as a two-tiered, sterling silver serving tray, worth a combined $700. Diamond said there were no…
