Arrest Made in Rochester Hills Tied to West Bloomfield Home Invasion

Officers say they saw D’Mario Darrell Thornton, 32, of Detroit break into a Rochester Hills home last week.

The following information was obtained from the Troy Police Department on Tuesday. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction. A man who police believe to be responsible for at least 15-20 home invasions in Metro Detroit, including West Bloomfield, was arrested in Rochester Hills last week, according to Troy Police. D’Mario Darrell Thornton, 32, of Detroit was arrested without incident after Troy Police, deputies from the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, and South Oakland Narcotic Investigation Consortium officers say they saw him break into a Rochester Hills home on the evening of March 26. Later, a search of his car, a 2009 White Cadillac Escalade, and his residence in Sterling Heights led to the recovery …

Home Invasion Suspects Arrested; Car Break-ins Spike

West Bloomfield Township Police Department reports from Oct. 30-Nov. 6 included 77 alarms, 28 crashes and nine arrests. Among the highlights: West Bloomfield Police arrested a couple, suspected of a mid-October home invasion on the 7000 block of Honeysuckle, on Nov. 5. According to Lt. Tim Diamond, Charles Wade Turner, 29, a resident of Walled Lake, and Christina Lynn Clanton, 30, a resident of West Bloomfield, were tracked to a trailer park in White Lake where they were arrested with little incident. Police from other municipalities have since questioned the suspects in connection to similar home invasion reports in recent weeks. Police: Dishwasher Stolen from Sea Grille Restaurant

West Bloomfield Township Police Department reports from Aug. 15-20 included 80 alarms, 35 crashes and 21 arrests. Among the highlights: The good news, said Lt. Tim Diamond, is that the Sea Grille restaurant is under new ownership after being closed to all but private parties for some time. That new ownership reported a commercial-grade dishwasher stolen by unknown suspects believed to have gotten through the back door, Diamond continued. The incident, reported Aug. 18, may have occurred sometime within the month prior. Ownership reported the incident after noticing a back door damaged, Diamond said, which is where the suspects may have come in to take the dishwasher valued at $6,000. Recent West Bloomfield Township Police Department reports included the following: Police followed Twitter to the beginnings of a house party in West Bloomfield which later revealed a home invasion, according to Lt. Tim Diamond. In the night hours of April 22, Diamond said, police following Twitter noticed that a house party was being mentioned as planned for the 6100 block of Lydia Court. Diamond added that as the house is in foreclosure, the mention appeared to be modeled after the recent movie release Project X, a comedy-drama about three friends who plan a house party that spins out of control.  Police responded to the home and turned away "dozens" of cars filled with teenagers and young adults, according to Diamond, then returned to …

Shot Fired During Home Invasion, Assault

Three Detroit men are charged after allegedly beating the man living in West Bloomfield with the mother of one of the suspect's child.

A violent episode in a home where a 20-month-child lives could have been much uglier, West Bloomfield Police Lt. Tim Diamond said. Lawrence Wynn, 22, Maurice Christon, 21, and Anthony Rogers, 18, are charged with home invasion in the Friday incident. The men, all from Detroit, allegedly broke down the door of the home on the 6600 block of Buckland in West Bloomfield to assault the 44-year-old man who lives there and acts as a stepfather to the child, of whom Wynn is the father, Diamond said. The men had gone to pick up the child’s 19-year-old mother, who was in the process of being kicked out by the 44-year-old man, he said. Menorah Stolen from Vacant Home; Vandals Damage House

West Bloomfield Township Police Department reports from Dec. 14-19 included 73 alarms, 15 crashes and 11 arrests. Among the highlights: A menorah was among two items stolen from a vacant home sometime Dec. 11-16, according to West Bloomfield Police Lt. Tim Diamond. The home on the 6900 block of Merrybrook North had been vacant for three-four months, Diamond said, but the homeowners still had valuables inside with intentions of selling the home sometime soon. The rear garage door, the door leading from the garage to the house and a locked bedroom door were pried open, Diamond said. Vandals Damage Home, Businesses Burglarized

West Bloomfield Police Department officers reported to 88 alarms, 42 car accidents (including nine Wednesday, mostly because of rainy weather) and 12 arrests from Oct. 12-20. Following are highlights of the police reports: The interior of a home on the 4100 block of Haggerty Road was reported Monday to have been heavily damaged while the homeowner was away Oct. 7-17, according to Diamond. Diamond listed the damage to the home: The suspects gained entry through broken windows in the basement and a screen to the bathroom window that was torn apart, Diamond said. Neighbors reported seeing teenage boys coming in and out of the house during the period, but did not report suspicious behavior, Diamond said. There are no suspects and the homeowner…

We are homeowners in West Bloomfield and are appalled at the vandalism that happened to one of our neighbors and friend on the 4100 block of Haggerty. We thought we lived in a safe neighborhood. I moved out here to raise my kids in a safe environment. Just to destroy property? I see this area is begining to turn into a mini Detroit. Car Stolen from Walnut Lake Road Driveway

Highlights of West Bloomfield Police Department reports from Aug. 9-16 revealed the following: A West Bloomfield man realized that his 1989 Volvo 240 DS had been taken from his driveway on the 7100 block of Walnut Lake Road after he parked it overnight between Aug. 10-11, according to Police Lt. Tim Diamond. The reporting person said that he had locked the vehicle, which is silver in color and valued at $2,900. There was no broken glass at the scene, however, to indicate one method of forced entry,  Diamond said. Diamond added that police are investigating to find the vehicle, which has a license plate number 8KL-H11, but they have no suspects.
