Andover High School's Final Homecoming: What Not To Do

Principal Rob Durecka issues a reminder to students in preview of the school's final homecoming weekend.

Andover High School Principal Rob Durecka certainly wants this weekend's homecoming festivities — the last in school history — to be memorable. Just for the right reasons. On Tuesday, he issued a reminder to students and parents about appropriate behavior throughout the week, and that the student Code of Conduct will be strictly enforced. While students are encouraged to zealously participate in spirit week activities and Friday's student pep rally, inappropriate comments, as well as wearing shirts that violate the Code of Conduct's Dress Code won't be tolerated, he said. Lost Yorkie Finds Loving Home With Young Family and More News Near You

A young couple has decided to keep a lost dog found in Shelby Township earlier this month and raise him as their own.

Patch's 30 sites throughout Southeastern Michigan reported on a ton of big news this week. Here's a look at some of the headlines outside of the Greater West Bloomfield area. 1. More than two weeks later and dozens of attempts to try and reconnect a lost Yorkie with his owner, a young couple living in Shelby Township have decided to adopt the adorable pooch. "We call him Georgie after Curious George because he got lost," said Nina Castellana, who found the lost dog on Sept. 10 outside her home on 25 and Dequindre while walking her own Yorkie Poo. The 21-year-old and her boyfriend, Sam Marino, have posted fliers in Shelby Township and Rochester, because the dog was found on the border of the two towns. They've also reached out to Patch in …

North Farmington High Homecoming Royalty Crowned

Brandon Grant and Jasmine Harris were honored during halftime at Friday night's game.

North Farmington High School Homecoming King Brandon Grant and Queen Jasmine Harris were crowned during halftime at the Raiders' home game with Waterford Kettering Game on Friday.   Brandon is an honor student and plans to attend Michigan State University to become a Physician and to play with the MSU Jazz Ensemble. Jasmine Harris is a star player on the girls basketball team and has been offered a full college scholarship recognizing her academic and athletic skills. West Bloomfield Homecoming Celebration 'Biggest in 18 Years'

Michael Okorn and Beth Joiner were crowned homecoming king and queen at West Bloomfield High School Friday.

Administrators, teachers, and students alike spared no hyperbole Friday at West Bloomfield High School, as fans greeted homecoming parade marchers and packed the stands to watch performances by the varsity football team, the marching band, Laker Express, dance, cheer, and pom pon teams. Athletic director and assistant principal Pat Watson called the crowd of the homecoming game against Oak Park, "the biggest homecoming crowd I've seen in 18 years here," while senior leadership teacher Ashleigh Ruggero agreed that students showed "more participation than ever." "I'm just happy, obviously it's a big honor. It's just a lot of fun and we're optimistic about the dance tomorrow," said Beth Joiner, a Lakers senior, who serves as class president …

Troy Athens Rallies to Beat West Bloomfield

Homecoming win leaves Red Hawks just one win away from clinching their first playoff berth since 2001, while West Bloomfield will look to rebound against Rochester.

Troy Athens High School survived a scare against West Bloomfield, as the Red Hawks made two key fourth-down stops in the final quarter to preserve a 27-17 victory in an Oakland Activities Association Red Division football matchup Friday night.  With the win on homecoming night, Athens improved to 5-1 on the season and 4-1 in the OAA Red, leaving the Red Hawks just one win away from clinching their first playoff berth since 2001. The turning point in the game came with West Bloomfield leading 17-14 and facing a 3-and-1 from its own 46-yard line with less than six minutes to play.
