According to an update from the City of Farmington Hills, both major projects are 'substantially complete'.
A couple of major road construction projects are wrapping up, but road closures and detours remain on others, according to a construction update released Monday by the city of Farmington Hills: Orchard Lake Road, 13 Mile to 14 Mile, Resurfacing (Road Commission for Oakland County - RCOC) While this project is "substantially complete", lanes will remain closed as workers cut new pavement joints. Sidewalk ramps, drive approaches, final cleanup, and landscape restoration will complete the project. 14 Mile, Haggerty to Drake Workers will put the finishing touches on this project, including paving drive approaches, work on sidewalks and shoulders, installing new signage, sprinkler repair and clean-up. 1. Hartland Patch reported Thursday that Christopher Muncy, 53, of White Lake, died at the scene of a traffic crash after he lost control his motorcycle on U.S. 23 in Hartland and was ejected into traffic, being hit by several vehicles. Reportedly, the first vehicle that struck Muncy initially stopped, but left prior to emergency vehicles arriving on scene. Police are asking for help identifying the missing vehicle which based on parts found on the scene appears to be a grayish or light blue Mercury that was possibly an older model Grand Marquis. The vehicle would have significant front end damage and may be missing the silver Mercury grill, according to reports. Witnesses say a female was seen exiting the vehicle when it initially …

Work on $1.4M project, beginning today, expected to slow traffic to one lane.
One of West Bloomfield's most-traversed gateway intersections will undergo a repaving job beginning this morning, which is expected to slow traffic to one lane. A stretch of Orchard Lake Road in-between 13 Mile and 14 Mile roads in Farmington Hills is expected to undergo the $1.4 million project until Oct. 3. Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) public information officer Craig Bryson wrote in a recent release that the road will remain reduced to one open lane in each direction for the duration of the project. The project involves pavement repairs and new asphalt. Additionally, curbs and gutters will be repaired where needed, and sidewalks and pedestrian crosswalks will be upgraded to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (…

The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) expects to close a lane of I-696 this weekend around Orchard Lake Rd. in Farmington Hills and Franklin Rd. in Southfield. On Saturday, May 5, from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., RCOC will close the right (outside) lane of east I-696 just east of Orchard Lake Road. Then, on Sunday, May 6, from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., RCOC will close the right (outside) lane of west I-696 between Orchard Lake and Farmington roads. On Saturday, RCOC will also close the ramp from north Orchard Lake to east I-696, for the same hours.
