I've taken it up with the city and I have noticed a major difference and I believe people are out there weekly maintaining, however, I'd like to know WHO is doing the littering. I wish Novi Police would put a camera on 11 Mile Rd (between Seeley and Meadowbrook) to monitor. But I'd …   more ›

The meeting is open to the public and will take place at the Road Commission for Oakland County’s administrative offices at 31001 Lahser Road. RCOC spokesman Craig Bryson said the additional funds became available when Congress passed the new federal transportation bill last year. Here's How County Will Keep the Snow Off the Roads This Winter

Part-time drivers and new, three-lane salt-spreaders will help the Road Commission for Oakland County remove the snow around West Bloomfield this year.

Editor's note: The following news was submitted by the Road Commission for Oakland County. The Road Commission for Oakland County is reviewing winter plowing and salting procedures with its truck drivers, preparing its trucks for winter and getting snow plows ready – all in anticipation of the inevitable arrival of winter weather. This year, though, the agency is also trying some new approaches to winter road maintenance: It has hired 30 part-time, temporary snowplow/salt-truck drivers and has purchased some new pieces of equipment that promise to improve winter road maintenance efficiency. “For the first time ever, we have hired temporary, part-time employees to augment our full-time drivers,” noted RCOC Chairman Eric Wilson. “Our full-…

Want To Drive a Snowplow? Oakland County is Hiring Drivers

The Road Commission is seeking to fill 30 part-time, temporary positions this winter.

The Road Commission for Oakland County is seeking to hire 30 part-time snowplow drivers to augment its reduced full-time staff for the winter this year, according to a news release. “We have reduced our staff more than 27 percent in the last five years, and many of the workers we have lost served as snowplow drivers in the winter,” explained Managing Director Dennis Kolar in a statement. “The reality is we cannot afford to replace the full-time employees we have lost, but we also cannot provide the level of service our customers deserve with just the remaining full-time staff." Hiring the temporary, part-time employees was a compromise that Kolar said he hopes will allow the agency to maintain a reasonable level of snow response service …

Why in God's name would the road commission require a CDL Class A license.????.In order to operate a snow plow/salt truck one would actually only need a class B w/airbrakes,due to the fact that a salt truck is one (1) piece and wieghs a hell of a lot less than a tractor trailer semi. A CDL Class A applies to tractor trailer semi, not a Tonka Toy.   more ›
