How Far Do You Commute, West Bloomfield?

U.S. Census figures released last week show that the average commute for a West Bloomfield resident was a little higher than the national average.

With a few exceptions here and there, there aren't too many of us who enjoy the daily commute to and from work. But how long is that commute for Oakland County residents and where are we going, anyway? According to data released last week by the U.S. Census Bureau, the average one-way, daily commute for U.S. workers is 25.5 minutes. Unfortunately for West Bloomfield residents, that commute time is a little higher throughout the township depending on where you are, with most averaging out to be around 26 minutes. Noteworthy in the census report is how many commuters are leaving their home county for work. American Community Survey Provides a Snapshot of West Bloomfield Area

Recent demographic data available online reveal residents' educational attainment, marital status, earnings and more.

A portrait of community life in the Greater West Bloomfield area in an up-to-date profile is available online. The U.S. Census Bureau released the 2007-2011 results from the American Community Survey on Thursday. Information about the Greater West Bloomfield area is available through the American Fact Finder portal on the Census website. The survey, which is conducted annually by the U.S. Census Bureau, provides current information about a community. The bureau intends for the results to guide policy decisions and funding allocations from state and local governments.
