Best Buys Will Be Closed

What about ours? There are 10 Best Buy stores in Oakland County, but a list of closures isn't known yet.

Best Buy executives may be giving up on some of their big-box stores, according to a Wall St. Journal report this week. The Minnesota-based electronics chain said it would close 50 Best Buy stores. At this time, however, the list of stores to close isn't known. Oakland County outlets, in addition to the one in Farmington Hills and two Novi stores (at West Oaks Shopping Center and on Haggerty Road), there are Best Buys in Rochester Hills, Bloomfield Hills, Southfield, Auburn Hills and Madison Heights. There also are two mobile specialty stores, at Great Lakes Crossing and Oakland Mall, according to the Best Buy store locator. Black Friday Deals Attract Shoppers at Big Box Stores

Shoppers were still hungry for sales after a turkey sandwich.

Area shoppers kept the Black Friday madness going throughout the day as they stopped at local big box stores to score deals. Best Buy drew a crowd of more than 300 shoppers waiting to get their hands on electronics deals that sold out within an hour, said Tyler Deanda, a Bloomfield Hills store employee. “We let about 25 people in at a time to make things go smoother,” Deanda said. A few police officers were stationed outside of the Bloomfield Hills store as well which helped deter any Black Friday brawls. One of the hottest bargains was a Sharp 42-inch television for $199.99. There were also select 99-cent DVD’s and 4.99 Blu Rays. Costco had a more traditional Black Friday opening at 9 a.m., unlike Target and Best Buy’s midnight madness …
