Oakland County on Tuesday was set to become the second county in the United States to tap wireless technology to transmit election results more quickly after the polls close. The analog modems on vote tabulator and absentee ballot counting board machines throughout Oakland County have been upgraded with wireless cellular modems that will allow unofficial results to be transmitted from communities to the county as soon as the polls close at 8 p.m., Oakland County Clerk Bill Bullard said Tuesday. Absentee ballots were temporarily missing on Tuesday; conclusion should not alter election results.
Updated: Aug. 8, 8:11 p.m. The Oakland County Clerk's office completed an audit of Aug. 7 primary votes in West Bloomfield Thursday after some absentee ballots were noted as missing on Tuesday. Election results were delayed to early Wednesday morning after Township Clerk Cathy Shaughnessy notified local and county police, as well as the county clerk's office, when a "stack" of 44 absentee ballots representing precinct 22 voters were noted as misplaced by absentee ballot workers. The ballots were found later that same night, Shaughnessy explained early Wednesday morning. Treasurer Weingarden exposed Clerk Shaughnessy's abuse of taxpayer's dollars. Shaughnessy abused her position as Clerk to bombard the public with unnecessary/useless communication from her office just to keep her name in front of the voters.
