Detroit native and Maestro Joseph Silverstein conducted without notes and played the violin with expertise, according to users who went for free after winning a contest. Users said afterward that it was a sight to see. "The concert tonight was awesome! The conductor was marvelous! He used no music to read from, knew all the pieces by heart, played the violin himself flawlessly ... and is 80 years old!" wrote Jay Waldman of Farmington in an email, who entered simply by answering a question on Patch last week.
