Erin Finn Expected to Run Indoor Mile on Saturday

West Bloomfield High School senior signed on to run at the University of Michigan next fall.

West Bloomfield High School senior Erin Finn will compete in the Gazelle Sports/Adidas Elite Meet at the Kelly Family Sports Center in Allendale this Saturday.  Finn, who recently signed on to officially compete at the University of Michigan next fall, holds the state 3,200-meter record and the indoor national 5,000 meter record. She also finished second at the USA Cross Country Championships in the junior race on Feb. 2. Two of the high school's senior class of student-athletes officially decided where to play after graduation.

Two West Bloomfield High School seniors joined student-athletes from across the country Wednesday in formally signing their letters of intent to compete at respective colleges, universities, and service academies next fall. Finn Finishes 12th in Midwest Championship

Despite faster time (17 minutes, 46 seconds) than last year's showing at Kenosha, WI course, West Bloomfield High School senior fails to qualify for national race.

West Bloomfield High School senior cross country runner Erin Finn placed 12th in the Foot Locker Midwest Regional Championship Saturday morning in Kenosha, WI. Finn ran in 17 minutes, 46 seconds, with a pace time of 5:44. Mishawaka High School (IN) sophomore Anna Rohrer finished first with a time of 16:54. With the finish, Finn fails to qualify for the Foot Locker National Championship Dec. 8 in San Diego. It's a disappointing finish for the scholar athlete and state champion, who onlookers said collapsed at the end of the race and received medical attention. State Champ! Finn Repeats Cross Country Victory

West Bloomfield High School senior defeats second place by 17 seconds with a personal record of 17 minutes, 7.9 seconds.

West Bloomfield High School senior Erin Finn won for the second consecutive year at the Division 1 cross-country state championship Saturday in Brooklyn despite a change in style brought upon by iron deficiency. The Detroit Free Press reported that Finn, who ran a personal record 17:07.9, has been running with an iron deficiency discovered this season. It caused her to run differently than she did when she won last year with a time of 17:22.6. Finn said in a release posted to milesplit.com said that she would run for the University of Michigan next fall on a talented squad that also includes Shannon Osika (Waterford Mott), Brook Handler (Rochester) and Taylor Manett (Rockford). Finn plans to major in biomedical engineering.

BROOKLYN — West Bloomfield High School junior Erin Finn continued her unbeaten 2011 season with a win in the Michigan High School Athletic Association state championship at Michigan International Speedway Saturday. She said that her time of 17 minutes, 22.6 seconds wasn't what she had hoped, but it was enough to best Rockford senior Taylor Manett by two seconds. Fellow Laker Ben Griessmann finished 102 for the boys with a time of 16:40.3, while junior Bjorn Kempf finished 129 with a time of 16:49.6.
