Township Board Allocates Grant for Public Services and More

$104,877 of federal CDBG funds going towards support for local seniors, victims of domestic violence, minor home repairs and accesible architecture.

The West Bloomfield Board of Trustees approved the allocation of more than $104,000 in federal Community development block grant (CDBG) funds at Monday's meeting. The funds will support senior services in the township, along with HAVEN, a group that works with victims of domestic violence, and the township's minor home repair program. Community development block grants are part of a federal program run by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The program, according to HUD, provides communities with resources to address a wide range of unique community development needs. This is part of a 30-day series of ways Patch community members can give back this holiday season. We hope you'll take part in this 30 Days of Giving and take the spirit beyond the holidays, because there truly is need all year long. HAVEN, a non-profit organization with locations in Pontiac, Royal Oak and Bingham Farms, gives women, men and children who are being abused the tools they need to get out of violent relationship and live a healthy life. HAVEN offers its clients a variety of services, including counseling, a 24-hour crisis line, prevention education, a safe shelter and more.
