Despite faster time (17 minutes, 46 seconds) than last year's showing at Kenosha, WI course, West Bloomfield High School senior fails to qualify for national race.
West Bloomfield High School senior cross country runner Erin Finn placed 12th in the Foot Locker Midwest Regional Championship Saturday morning in Kenosha, WI. Finn ran in 17 minutes, 46 seconds, with a pace time of 5:44. Mishawaka High School (IN) sophomore Anna Rohrer finished first with a time of 16:54. With the finish, Finn fails to qualify for the Foot Locker National Championship Dec. 8 in San Diego. It's a disappointing finish for the scholar athlete and state champion, who onlookers said collapsed at the end of the race and received medical attention. West Bloomfield High School senior defeats second place by 17 seconds with a personal record of 17 minutes, 7.9 seconds.
West Bloomfield High School senior Erin Finn won for the second consecutive year at the Division 1 cross-country state championship Saturday in Brooklyn despite a change in style brought upon by iron deficiency. The Detroit Free Press reported that Finn, who ran a personal record 17:07.9, has been running with an iron deficiency discovered this season. It caused her to run differently than she did when she won last year with a time of 17:22.6. Finn said in a release posted to milesplit.com said that she would run for the University of Michigan next fall on a talented squad that also includes Shannon Osika (Waterford Mott), Brook Handler (Rochester) and Taylor Manett (Rockford). Finn plans to major in biomedical engineering.

The West Bloomfield High School junior cross country phenomenon finished first in every league meet this past season.

West Bloomfield High School junior Erin Finn ran 17 minutes, 22.6 seconds to win Saturday.
BROOKLYN — West Bloomfield High School junior Erin Finn continued her unbeaten 2011 season with a win in the Michigan High School Athletic Association state championship at Michigan International Speedway Saturday. She said that her time of 17 minutes, 22.6 seconds wasn't what she had hoped, but it was enough to best Rockford senior Taylor Manett by two seconds. Fellow Laker Ben Griessmann finished 102 for the boys with a time of 16:40.3, while junior Bjorn Kempf finished 129 with a time of 16:49.6.

The West Bloomfield High School boys team did well at the final Oakland Activities Association White Division Jamboree event of the season Friday.
The West Bloomfield High School boys cross country team won sole possession of second place in the Oakland Activities Association White Division Friday at Oakland University in Rochester, while junior Erin Finn set a course record. Finn finished with a time of 17 minutes, 34.1 seconds, to take first place and achieve all-league honors in the third division Jamboree event of the season. Junior Megan Eiswerth also achieved all-league honors with a 14th-place finish and a time of 20:41.9. Meanwhile, the boys team won second place over Lahser, whom they were tied with going into Friday, with a second-place finish Friday. West Bloomfield High School junior phenom Erin Finn's historic season continued Saturday as she won the All Oakland County Championship meet at Kensington Metropark in Clinton Township. Finn's time of 17:41 was one second shy of Rochester's Megan Goethals' record of 17:40, which she set as a senior in 2009. The win comes the month after setting a course record in victory at the Linden Classic. Finn has won all six races she's run this season, including the recent Spartan Invitational.
