Look Back on 2011: Finn Goes Wire-to-Wire

The West Bloomfield High School junior cross country phenomenon finished first in every league meet this past season.

Patch came in to West Bloomfield in February of what will be remembered by many as a long, interesting year in the township. Between several interesting sports and games which turned into debate which turned into stories, videos, and photos, Patch was in a fairly unique position of providing the forum for these stories – and residents views on them – to be heard. Finn Wins County Meet at Kensington, Nearly Sets Course Record

The Lakers junior's time of 17:41 was one second shy of Megan Goethals' record, which she set as a senior in 2009.

West Bloomfield High School junior phenom Erin Finn's historic season continued Saturday as she won the All Oakland County Championship meet at Kensington Metropark in Clinton Township. Finn's time of 17:41 was one second shy of Rochester's Megan Goethals' record of 17:40, which she set as a senior in 2009. The win comes the month after setting a course record in victory at the Linden Classic. Finn has won all six races she's run this season, including the recent Spartan Invitational. Oxford junior Brooke Kovacic finished second Saturday at 18:50. Head coach Nate Belill said that he understands the weight of Finn, in a class one year below Goethals, chasing marks set by the star Rochester runner, who is currently racing at the University …
