Lakers' Coach Crosby Wins No. 200

Every day, our video series 'Wake Up' aims to know West Bloomfield and its people better.

Good morning, West Bloomfield! Yesterday, I went to West Bloomfield High School to watch the boys varsity swimming and diving team take on Hazel Park in the Lakers' second meet of the season. It was exciting to watch the team win its first meet of the year — led by stellar performances from Andrew Jacob and John Yurich, as well as Eric Vrbensky, Joshua Geer, and Nick Basel — knowing that the win marked No. 200 in a stellar, 36-year career for head coach Bob Crosby. Congratulations to Coach Crosby on a remarkable win! The National Weather Service calls for the following Wednesday forecast: Have you seen Patch's new Traffic & Gas tab on the top sidebar of the page you're looking at (in-between the Places and Gallery tabs)? Every day, our video series 'Wake Up' aims to know West Bloomfield and its people better.

Good morning, West Bloomfield! This weekend, I went to the Orchard Lake Community Church, Presbyterian for an update from the West Bloomfield Interact Club, a group of students between grades 6-12 who are developing leadership qualities in helping other people. I spoke with Janelle Hasenauer, a senior at West Bloomfield High School, about the groups latest mission — to collect as many blankets as possible for donation to homeless shelters in Detroit. As a result of Saturday's blanket drive, the club will be donating 50 blankets. If you'd like to contribute, there's still time — contact the Executive Secretary of the Rotary Club, Kelly Wong, kwongkelly@gmail.com. Holy Spirit Lutheran Gets in Christmas Spirit

Every day, our video series 'Wake Up' aims to know West Bloomfield and its people better.

Good morning, West Bloomfield! Last week, we met with Pastor Bill Matlack at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church. Holy Spirit has been in the community 41 years, and "Pastor Bill" helped explained the second-annual Christmas carol sing-along which was held last Friday. Going to a service there on Christmas Eve (services held at 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. that day  with special music and candlelight), it seems, is a sure-fire way to get into the Christmas spirit this season. The National Weather Service calls for the following Monday forecast: DetroitGasPrices.com posted Monday's cheapest gas prices. The following reflects prices for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline: Have a great day!

Local Photographer on Display at Bookstore

Every day, our video series 'Wake Up' aims to know West Bloomfield and its people better.

Good morning, West Bloomfield! I met with Monte Nagler while hunting for holiday gifts at Barnes and Noble. If you're a regular Patch reader, you're likely aware that we've published information on his Fine Art Photography Exhibit to the Events calendar. However, I was not aware that Nagler is a Farmington Hills resident who had been coming to that bookstore for displays for many years. Nagler will be there through the rest of the week, so, if you're looking for a unique gift or simply want to take in some beautiful photography from Michigan and around the world, give it a twirl. The National Weather Service calls for the following Wednesday forecast: DetroitGasPrices.com posted Wednesday's cheapest gas prices. The following reflects …

Good morning, West Bloomfield! Yesterday, I met with Pam Strauch, a Brighton resident and co-owner at Lolly Ella Jewelry, who told me about the Lolly Jolly Bash, an annual event kicking off against this Saturday to benefit the Big Family of Michigan. Yesterday, I met with Josephine Fermanian, a Commerce resident raised in West Bloomfield who recently launched Moms for Michigan, a Facebook community dedicated to helping the Michigan business community thrive through grassroots connectivity. Fermanian is a "momtrepreneur" in her own right — she's the founder of Germs Begone, an organic cleaner she originally created to help her son, and PediaOrganic, an organic, delicious response to problems caused by child dehydration.
