Friends of WB Library Review "The Hobbit" in October

As the
October selection of the 2013-2014 Book Review Series, the Friends of the West
Bloomfield Twp Public Library are reviewing “The Hobbit” by J. R. R. Tolkien on
Wednesday, October 9 at 7 p.m. and again on Friday, October 11 at 10 a.m. in
the Meeting Room of the West Bloomfield Twp Public Library Main Library, Main
Branch, 4600 Walnut Lake Road,
West Bloomfield, MI.

The reviewer
for the selection is Dr. Steve Berman.

“Bilbo Baggins is a hobbit who enjoys a comfortable, unambitious
life, rarely traveling any farther than his pantry or cellar. But his
contentment is disturbed when the wizard Gandalf and a company of dwarves arrive
on his doorstep one day to whisk him away on an adventure. They have launched a
plot to raid the treasure hoard guarded by Smaug the Magnificent, a large and
very dangerous dragon. Bilbo reluctantly joins their quest, unaware that on his
journey to the Lonely Mountain he will encounter both a magic ring and a
frightening creature known as Gollum.”
