Walled Lake Western Hosts 'Pink Out' Game to Support Cancer Charities

Patch shares your social media posts about this annual event.

The Walled Lake Western varsity football team will don pink football jerseys for their third annual Pink-Out game Sept. 20, against the Walled Lake Northern Knights.

The event raises funds for Susan G. Komen Detroit Race for the Cure, St. Baldrick's Foundation for Pediatric Cancer and Coaches vs. Cancer in association with the American Cancer Society. Thousands have attended over the past two years, raising $140,000.

A "Warriors' Survivor Parade" begins at 6 p.m., open to those who have been touched by any form of cancer. A ceremony prior to the 7:30 p.m. kick-off will honor cancer warriors. Western football players will line the field from end zone to end zone wearing pink jerseys that have been sponsored in honor or memory of someone within the community.

School community members have taken to social media to promote and share information about the event, and Patch will share posts by updating this article throughout the day on Friday.
